Linguistic Laboratory for Corpora Research Technologies. Postdoctoral research positions. Deadline: March 25, 2014

A full-time postdoctoral position in the area of corpora-based studies, theoretical linguistics and in-depth research in corpora technologies  is available at the Linguistic Laboratory for Corpora Research Technologies of the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE), Moscow, Russia.

The candidate will join a team of internationally-trained researchers in corpus linguistics, linguistic typology, Slavic linguistics and computational linguistics. We are looking for a candidate with solid theoretical and/or practical background: thorough knowledge in theoretical linguistics for problem statement and setting new tasks in corpora research; relevant experience in development of linguistic tools would be an advantage.  

The candidate will work under the direct supervision of Dr. Ekaterina Rakhilina Director of the Linguistic Laboratory for Corpora Research Technologies, and be encouraged to pursue his/her own research in parallel with working on Laboratory’s research projects on corpora development and creating and using corpora representing non-standard varieties of Russian.  The candidate is expected to participate in the intellectual life of the Laboratory and to contribute to interdisciplinary work which includes faculty, research fellows and students in Linguistics, Computer Science and related disciplines.

Requirements:

• Ph.D. in Linguistics, Slavic Languages, Computational Linguistics, or related fields;
• fluent English (knowledge of Russian is an asset, but not required);
• ability and high motivation to conduct high-quality research publishable in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
