Communication, Cognitive Control and Perception Group

Postdoctoral research positions. Deadline: April 15, 2015

Higher School of Economics is pleased to announce new CAS-funded post-doctoral posts at the Communication, Cognitive Control and Perception Group. Research topics include: neural dynamics of language comprehension and production, cognitive control in communication, sensory-motor integration, embodied cognition, numeracy, interactions between domain-specific and domain-general cognitive systems, language acquisition, communication deficits (e.g. aphasia), etc.

The laboratory is a structural part of the HSE’s new Centre for Cognition & Decision Making with ample collaboration opportunities within the Centre as well as with other research groups at HSE, within Russia, and internationally. Research facilities include multi-channel EEG, navigated TMS-EEG, tDCS, behavioural, and eye-tracking equipment. The Centre also provides access to MEG, fMRI and a range of neurological populations. This new international lab operates in tight collaboration with the Centre of Functionally Integrative Neuroscience at Aarhus University (Denmark), Psychology Department at Northumbria University Newcastle (UK), and other international research centres. The post holders will have an advantage of being able to further define and expand the laboratory’s research programme. Further to working on the Laboratory’s current research strands, the successful candidates will also be encouraged to pursue their own research programme.

The job involves:

  • working under the direct supervision of the group’s PI in collaboration with other group members
  • participants are encouraged to pursue their own research within the group’s research scope as specified above
  • writing research papers for submission to international peer-reviewed journals in co-authorship with other Centre and group members while research facilities and research support are available, application for further external grant funding are encouraged
  • also encouraged are some teaching at graduate and postgraduate level, student supervision as well as public presentations of candidate’s own research
  • participation in organization of various events and other contribution to the laboratory development and maintenance

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, language sciences or related fields
  • Fluent English (knowledge of Russian is not required)
  • Demonstrated ability and high motivation to conduct high-quality research publishable in quality international peer-reviewed journals
