Laboratory for Qualitative and Quantitative Methods of Analysis of Political Regimes

Postdoctoral research positions. Deadline: April 1, 2015

The Higher School of Economics Laboratory for Qualitative and Quantitative Methods of Analysis of Political Regimes in Moscow, Russia invites applications for postdoctoral research positions in the field of political economy, including theoretically driven formal modeling and quantitative empirical research.

The job involves:

  • working under the direct supervision of professor Andrey Akhremenko.
  • participants are encouraged to pursue their own research in parallel with working on Lab's research projects in the following areas:
  1. the impact of political regimes on the resource redistribution, economic growth and efficiency (and the reverse impact) 
  2. political orders and their changes: theory, formal models and empirical analysis
  • writing research papers for international peer-reviewed journals in co-authorship with the members of the Lab
  • some teaching as well as public presentations of candidate’s own research are also encouraged
  • participation in organization of the events and other contribution to the Lab’s development

Requirements:

  • a PhD from an international research university in economics or political science.
  • a background in political economy;
  • ability to work in an interdisciplinary team;
  • fluent English;
  • macroeconomic background (especially growth theory, production functions, public capital studies etc.) is considered to be a strong advantage.
