Atom Optics, Nanophotonics and Nanoplasmonics


The Higher School of Economics Faculty of Physics (Chair of Quantum Optics and Nanophotonics with the Institute of Spectroscopy of the Russian Academy of Sciences invites applications for postdoctoral research position in the field of Atom Optics, Nanophotonics and Nanoplasmonics.

 

The job involves:

  • working under the direct supervision of Prof. V.I. Balykin (Laboratory for Laser Spectroscopy Laboratory at the Institute of Spectroscopy, www.atomoptics.ru);
  • participants are encouraged to pursue their research working on the projects listed below:

o  Quantum Nanoplasmonics

o  Experiments with Single Localized (trapped) Atoms

The lab offers access to their clean room facilities, nanostructures fabrication facilities, lab on microscopy & spectroscopy of nanostructures, cold&trapped atoms experimental setup;

  • writing research papers to international peer-reviewed journals in co-authorship with the members of the Institute;
  • presenting your own research results and result of the research group you work with at the National and International conferences and other meetings; taking part in scientific seminars and events organized by the host Institute, as well as in other Institute’s activities;
  • giving lectures and seminars for Master students devoted to the research running in the lab.

 

Requirements:

  • PhD in Physics from an internationally recognized research university in such fields as: Atom Optics, Nanophotonics and Nanoplasmonics;
  • ability to work in a team;
  • strong background in experimental and condensed matter physics, optical and laser spectroscopy, laser physics;
  • fluent English and good abilities in academic writing and scientific presentations.
